For added security, you can lock the app with a passcode and protect your documents with passwords.
You can lock Genius Scan with a passcode or your fingerprint if Touch ID is available on your device. Note that we strongly recommend that you also set a passcode on your phone.
In Genius Scan, open the Settings and tap General.
Turn on the Face ID / Passcode switch.
Choose a passcode. Even if you have Touch ID, a passcode will be used as a fallback in case your device cannot read your fingerprint.
Genius Scan will now authenticate you every time you open the app.
To disable the passcode protection, return to Settings and turn off the Touch ID / Passcode switch. Note that you will need to authenticate yourself to disable this protection.
When you export a PDF document, Genius Scan lets you protect it with a password. PDF documents protected by a password are encrypted and can only be read with the password.
The encryption used is RC4 with a 128-bits key.
There are two ways of setting up a password for your PDF documents:
In Genius Scan, open the Settings and tap General.
Turn on Password encryption.
Choose a password. It will be used to encrypt all the PDF files you export.
Open a document and tap the Share button.
Tap the gear icon at the top of your screen to open the export options screen.
Make sure the format selected is PDF. The password feature only works for PDF documents. Tap Set password.
Choose a password and press the back button. You can now export your password-protected document. Don't forget to share the password with your recipient.
