Genius Scan attempts to filter your documents automatically based on their content:
For black-and-white documents, Genius Scan will apply a grayscale filter.
For color documents, Genius Scan will enhance the colors.
In this article, you will learn how to change the applied filter for a given page, how to specify a default filter to always enhance your scans in the same way, and what the different filters are at your disposal.
Open a document and tap edit at the bottom of the screen.
Choose the appropriate filter from the filter preview row.
Go to Settings > General > Default Filter.
Choose a filter that will be applied by default when you scan a new document. Choose the Auto filter if you want Genius Scan to always apply the filter most suited to your documents.
Genius Scan attempts to detect the best filter to apply to your document, but you can always change it. Note that the Black and White and Color filters include Soft and Strong variations:
Soft: Perfect for low-contrast documents like handwritten notes or carbon copies, where preserving subtle details matters.
Strong: Ideal for high-contrast needs like sharp text or clear invoices, removing shadows and boosting clarity.
Here are a few tips on which filter to use:
