Auto-export rules and configuration

Auto-export rules require an advanced Genius Scan plan: Genius Scan Ultra, Genius Scan Lifetime Plus, Genius Scan Enterprise.

Auto-Export automatically sends your documents to your chosen destination in the background. You can set up multiple Auto-Export rules, some with specific conditions.

Your PDF documents are automatically exported to your preferred cloud storage, and if you edit a document, it’s automatically re-exported with the same name. Think of Auto-Export as a one-way sync, ensuring your latest scans are always backed up without manual effort.

For instance, you can set up an Auto-Export rule to:

  • Automatically export to Dropbox, folder Expenses when your document is tagged with the tag Expense or Invoice.

  • Automatically export to Dropbox, folder Family when your document is tagged with School.

You can automatically export to:

  • Box

  • Dropbox

  • Evernote

  • FTP

  • Google Drive

  • OneDrive

  • OneNote & OneNote for Business

  • Webdave

  • SugarSync

  1. In Settings, choose Export. Tap Add rule to create an auto-export rule.

  1. Select your favorite cloud storage, such as Google Drive, and tap Login to enter your credentials. You'll see the accounts you're already logged into at the top of the list.

  1. Configure the auto-export parameters and tap Add:

    1. (Optional) Give a name to the auto-export rule.

    2. Choose a folder in your cloud storage.

    3. (Optional) Configure name and tags conditions. The auto-export will only trigger for a document if it matches these conditions.

You can now scan a document, which will be automatically exported.

  1. In Settings, choose Export. Tap Add destination to create a new export destination.

  1. Select your favorite cloud storage, such as Google Drive, and tap Login to enter your credentials. Or choose an account you're already logged into. You'll see the accounts you're already logged into at the top of the list.

  1. Once logged in, turn on Automatically export and tap the Folder to select the export folder in your cloud storage. Here, you can set up export conditions and tap Save:

    1. (Optional) Give a name to the auto-export rule.

    2. Choose a folder in your cloud storage.

    3. (Optional) Configure name and tags conditions. The auto-export will only trigger for a document if it matches these conditions.

You can now scan a document, which will be automatically exported.

Auto-Export triggers when some conditions are met.

Auto-Export triggers after you modify a document. It only triggers when you are on the main document list of Genius Scan or when you exit the app. By default, Auto-Export won't run on cellular network, but only on Wi-Fi. You can enable Auto-Export on cellular in Settings > Export > Auto-export on cellular.

(Optional) Activate if you want to delete a document from Genius Scan after the auto-export succeeds. Be careful; the document won't be recoverable in Genius Scan.
