Verify if your documents have been backed up

Ensuring your documents are safely backed up is essential. That’s why Genius Scan lets you check the overall sync status at the top of the app and view the status of each document individually right next to it.

Overall sync status

This section covers syncing with .

If you are logged into a Genius Cloud account, the sync button at the top of your screen will display either:

  • A checkmark if all your documents are synced to your account

  • A warning (Android) or a clock (iOS) if an error prevents a document from being synced. Tap the sync button to see the error, or tap Backup & Sync to sync your documents manually.

Individual Genius Cloud sync status

  1. Open the sync screen by tapping the sync button at the top of your screen.

  1. Check the list of pending documents. If the list is empty, all your documents have been synced. If not all your documents are synced, tap the Backup and sync button.

If your app is logged into Genius Cloud, a circle will also be displayed next to your documents:

  • A green circle means that your document has been successfully synced.

  • A grey circle indicates that your document failed to sync. In this case, tap the sync button at the top of your screen and check the source of the issue.

Individual export status

On iOS, when you export a document (through Email or to Google Drive or Dropbox…), you will see a corresponding icon on each document denoting the successful export to the chosen export destination. Should an error happen, this icon will turn grey, and you can open the document to see a detailed message.

On Android, colored dots are located next to each document. The color of the dot tells you the export status of your document:

  • Green: The document has been exported to at least one destination (e.g., email, Dropbox, or Genius Cloud).

  • Gray: The document has not been exported yet. You may need to export it manually or wait for Auto-Export to trigger (if you have enabled Auto-Export).
